My desire to become a physician began when I was in high school. Two factors were really responsible for this. The first was the knowledge I received in my very first anatomy class. As I started to learn about the frame and function of the human body, I became completely amazed. I just could not fathom how truly perfect our divine design was. The more I learned, the deeper my desires to become a doctor grew. The second factor was becoming a patient myself and loosing the ability to do what I truly loved at the time... playing soccer. Over the course of several years, I underwent four separate orthopedic surgeries to repair soccer related injuries. With each new injury I was forced to take time off from the things that I loved most in life and had to watch from the sidelines as my friends continued to live life to the fullest without me. That was really the point when I decided that I wanted to become a doctor some day. I wanted to help people regain their health so that they could once again do the things in life that they loved most.
I still love soccer, but today my passion is much different than it was back then. My passion is now my career as a chiropractic physician. I absolutely love removing interference in the nervous system through the power of a chiropractic adjustment! After a long journey of learning, I have finally realized that chiropractic care is not so much about back and neck pain, but more about helping people achieve a higher quality of life by regaining their health. See, when you're sick and in pain you don’t have the time, energy or ability to get the most out of your time with your loved ones. Without your health you cannot do all the things that you love most in life, in some cases you cannot even perform simple activities of daily living. My education has taught me that with a properly functioning nervous system the body has an innate ability to heal itself and fight off disease and it can do all this WITHOUT the use of potentially harmful drugs and/or surgery. So this passion is now what I get to do everyday... help people live life to the EXTRA DEGREE with the help of chiropractic adjustments and healthy lifestyle choices. I am truly blessed to be doing what I love for a career and cannot wait to share my passion with you!
Nick Barnes, D.C.
How did I get where I am today? I was raised in Chesterfield, MO, and after graduating high school I was unsure of what I wanted to do or where I wanted to be after college. So, I did what most people do and decided to go to college to major in business. It was my senior year when I then decided to become an athletic trainer for the University of Missouri football team. This is when I found my calling to serve people. Although I did not fulfill a career path as an athletic trainer, it lead me to where I am today… saving lives through the power of a chiropractic adjustment!
I received my first adjustment at age 23, and I asked myself, “Why did I wait so long?” Since that first adjustment, I have learned that Chiropractic is something that should not be kept secret from anyone! I am truly blessed to be in the position I am in today! I get to help people reach a level of health that they have never experienced before. Chiropractic allows people to experience life to their fullest potential; therefore, I believe people who are living the chiropractic lifestyle are at an unfair advantage. My purpose in life is to leave earth a happier, healthier, and more tranquil place than it was before I came into it. In order for me to fulfill my purpose, I know I have to be an amazing Chiropractor, community educator, and person. I understand that people need us in the community, and we are here for you. We can’t wait to see you in the office!
