Our specialties:
The most common asbestos symptoms are associated with the development of fluid in the lungs. Because of a thickening in the pleura and nodules or tumors that develop in the chest or abdomen, time is a critical factor for the development of symptoms that no longer seem cold or flu-like. Fifty-percent of mesothelioma victims have chest pain located in the low chest and toward the back and side. This pain increases over time and can become severe enough to require prescription pain medications. This severe pain can be a signal that there are tumors in the chest wall. Pain becomes severe because it is associated with the wall outside of the lungs that requires movement as we breathe along with the rib cage and diaphragm. Because these are all connected, some patients experience abdominal swelling from fluid accumulation known as ascites.
