Doula, pronounced (Doo-luh), a greek word for those who nurture a mother before, during and after the birth of a baby. The postpartum doula’s job is to provide non-medical care, education, support, compassion and companionship. Postpartum Doulas are trained in postpartum adjustment, newborn characteristics, care, feeding, and development. A postpartum doula is always trying to “work herself out of a job” by helping parents to gather the skills and resources that they will need in the first few months. Every mother deserves a postpartum doula!
