VFLM, Inc. is an organization established to provide a variety of programs to assist children in maturing into healthy, productive members of society. These programs include emergency food and clothing, after school programs, educational programs, teen pregnancy counseling, and a child development center. At this time VFLM has no employees. All services are provided on a strictly volunteer basis. The organization understands that it will be necessary in the future to hire more professionals to assist with our program coordination, teaching, counseling, and other services. None of our board members are being paid by the organization. It is the intent of VFLM to secure our own facility when funding becomes available. A facility to be donated from the government would be the ideal situation. Programs:  Emergency Food and Clothing Program provides food baskets and clothing to needy people of the community.  After school Self-Enrichment, Recreation, and Training Program (ASSERT), an after school program staffed by volunteers with some professional supervision. This program offers a safe place to keep our kids off the streets.  GED Prep Classes English as a second language, and basic literacy skills.  Teen Pregnancy Program provides support with prenatal care, personal growth, fathering skills, and other educational subjects that are lacking with many young parents.  The Day Care Program aids in child development and growth. The environment will stress the importance of education and personal growth, staffed by primarily trained staff and provided free of charge. VFLM will target the population of middle school to high school students in the Lake County area. VFLM will require a tremendous amount of collaboration from the community and other organizations to make our program a success, and this is where we need to establish a relationship with others that can assist us in attaining our goals.
