Do you know anything about Camargo in Dewey County? Is it far from where you live? My 101 yr.old mother lived there for about two years. Sometime between 1905 and 1910. My mother was a little girl living with her family in Nebraska. About that time her oldest brother decided to leave Nebraska to homestead land in Oklahoma. He liked it so much that he encouraged the rest of the family to move there too. But after about two years in Oklahoma my grandmother decided it was too wild and primitive there for her taste, so the family returned to Nebraska leaving the other brother in Oklahoma. My mother tells me that her father was instrumental in arranging for the first schoolhouse to be built in the area and hiring the first schoolteacher. With my mom's 101st birthday coming up soon, I'd like to see if I can find more information about the area. And, if possible, confirm the information about the school and my grandfather's connection. (My grandfather's name was Ulysses S. Grant EAST.) Would make a great birthday present for my mom.
